Celebrating 9 Years of Marriage at The Mirbeau Inn & Spa
I can’t believe how quickly 9 years of marriage go by. In some ways it feels like I have known Justin for forever and in others it feels like we were just married. In those 9 years we have lived in 3 countires, 4 different apartments, had two babies and purchased our first home. It’s been a lot of life together and being deeply in the trenches of parenthood these last few years we couldn’t have been more excited for a night away to relax and reconnect. We soon found out that we chose the perfect getaway because there is truly no better place to get some R&R than the Mirbeau Inn & Spa.
The Mirbeau is just a short distance from NYC and is nestled in the sweetest little town of Rhinebeck NY. Rhinebeck is full of amazing restaurants, adorable boutiques, and charming victorian homes with peaceful wooded surroundings giving you the feeling of truly being “away from it all”. When I stepped into The Mirbeau I immediately fell in love with the vintage Parisian feel that was clearly inspired by Monet. Everything about the Mirbeau reflects rest and relaxation, with their incredible Spa at the heart of it all. When we arrived at the front desk I immediately noticed people relaxing at the bar or enjoying lunch at The Willow in their bath robes. I was later informed that the entire hotel is robe friendly until 4pm giving it a true “haven like” feel.
After checking in Justin and I walked around the charming town and had an amazing lunch at a little Thai restaurant we found. We did a bit of shopping in the downtown area and then headed back to the Mirbeau to relax and read by the fire in their cozy library. We soon headed back to the room and got ready for dinner at their in-house restaurant, The Willow, by the famous NYC Chef Charlie Plamer.
Diner was an absolute culinary dream! The only disappointing thing about it was that I wasn’t able to try every single item on the menu. With each plate that came out I was blow away with the beautiful presentation. Every dish was delicious and perfectly cooked. Dining at the Willow, for me, was not just a dinner but an entire experience. It’s well worth the trip to the Mirbeu just to experience Charlie Palmers amazing menu!
The following morning Justin and I headed to the spa for one of the most relaxing mornings of our lives. The Spa at The Mirbeau is truly life for any tired parents soul. It’s also the perfect space for busy New Yorkers who need some time away from the hustle and bustle of city life. I spent a bit of time in their aqua terrace (a large outdoor hot tub) as well as in the sauna and steam room. I joined up with Justin in their relaxation room for a restful nap to the sounds of trickling water near their softly glowing water fixture. Off to the side a fireplace softly glowed giving the room a warm and exceptionally cozy feeling. We were soon greeted by our masseuse’s for a much needed couples massage. You truly cannot spend time at The Mirbeau without experiencing their spa. It will leave a lasting impression and have you scheduling regular visits to indulge in much needed self-care.
By the time we were ready to head back home to our little ones Justin and I were feeling deeply rested and reconnected. The Mirbeau is truly an oasis of relaxation for anyone who needs it. I could not recommend it more highly for a weekend getaway or for an extended retreat to refocus, reconnect and get a bit of rest. You wont be disappointed with the food, the atmosphere or the service. I can promise you, it will be worth every penny you invest in yourself.
