How You Can Help Fight Breast Cancer With Susan G. Komen
With 1 in 8 women in the US being diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime most of us either have been or know someone who has been affected. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with Susan G. Komen on this post because breast cancer has affected more than one woman that I know and care about. It’s heartbreaking to see the things they and their families have gone through. I look at my beautiful family and I can’t imagine my girls growing up without their mommy or my husband being left alone. My hope is for a world where no one has to experience breast cancer and I am sharing this post with you today because that is exactly the mission that Susan G. Komen is working towards.
Breast cancer is not actually just one disease but is rather a family of about 15 different types of breast cancer! Breast cancer is the 2ndmost common cause of cancer death among all women in the US, second only to lung cancer and it is the number one cause of cancer death for women 20-59. Strides are being made in research and treatment all of the time but without awareness and funding these strides can be made.
Susan G. Komen is fighting breast cancer in a number of ways that are making a huge impact. They are advocating for those affected by breast cancer and making sure they have a voice among policy makers to help fund lifesaving research and provide critical patient support. They are funding research and fact-based education that is helping save countless lives. They are also providing support for those affected by breast cancer as well as treatment assistance. Susan G. Komen even offers a breast care helpline for those looking for answers to difficult questions or advice from experts along with clinical trial information ( The number is 1-877-465-6636).
Since the organization was founded, Susan G. Komen has invested more that $1 billion in breakthrough research, and more that $2.3 billion on community health, education and advocacy, helping people in about 60 countries. Their contributions alone have helped reduce breast cancer mortality rates in the US by 40% between 1989 and 2016! There is still so much more work to be done and they need your help to partner with them to reach their goal of reducing the mortality rate by 50% in the US by 2026.
One of the ways you can support the organization is by making a donation HERE. My hope is that if we all work together, their goal of reducing the mortality rate by 50% by 2026 will not only be met but may actually be surpassed. I know this is a foundation that won’t stop fighting this battle until no one loses someone they love to breast cancer and it’s an honor to partner with them in the fight. Don’t forget to support their cause by visiting the website HERE.

Kelly
