Discover the Charms of Portsmouth, NH at the AC Hotel
Our family loves living in the North East, especially during the fall. Two of our favorite things are taking long drives to see the leaves and having adventures. We decided to pick a town we have never been to and do some exploring this fall. We chose Portsmouth, NH because we have heard amazing things and we knew the drive would be stunning. After a little bit of research we landed on staying at the AC Hotel by Marriott.
When we arrived we found the AC Hotel nestled in the heart of Portsmouth. I immediately noticed it’s contemporary design, exceptional service, and perfect location. When traveling with kids I don’t love getting in and out of the car if I can avoid it. The hotel is perfectly situated downtown and we were able to walk to dinner and all of the shops without ever moving the car.
The AC Hotel Portsmouth has a chic and minimalist ambiance. Our room was exceptionally clean and beautifully designed to truly feel like a retreat. From the sleek, elegant furnishings to the panoramic views of the surrounding area, we really felt like we were surrounded by an atmosphere of luxury and relaxation.
If you stay at the AC Hotel make sure you don’t skip out on the breakfast! It’s the part of the trip my girls continue to talk about the most! They had an incredible European style breakfast spread and my 8 yr old discovered coconut mango chia pudding for the first time! She now has me looking up recipes to recreate it at home! They had such a wide variety breakfast items like eggs, avocado toast, meats and cheeses, croissants, fruits, oatmeal and delicious lattes. It was a definitely highlight of the trip for us!
Breakfast wasn’t the only great meal we had at the AC Hotel either! We had dinner at The Envio (their rooftop restaurant and bar) and were able to catch the sunset over the water. It was a stunning view to enjoy with a drink in hand! Justin ordered salmon and I had a lobster roll. When I tell you it was the most lobster I have ever had in a lobster roll I am not exaggerating. We also had the best shrimp cocktail of my life! I highly recommend ordering both if your in the mood for seafood!
I always find a great sense of adventure from exploring a place I have never been before. If your like me, and have never been to Portsmouth, it’s charm will definitely steal you heart! My girls loved walking around the quaint downtown and popping into all of the boutique shops, art galleries, and restaurants. It’s the perfect town to explore if your looking for an authentic New England experience. Towns really don’t get more charming than this!
My 8 yr old loves to hike and is a huge nature enthusiast so we also decided to visit the Odiorne Point State Park. It’s just a short drive from the AC Hotel and the coastal state park offers breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean, coupled with diverse ecosystems and recreational activities. We spent the morning wandering along the scenic trails, exploring the rocky coastline and playing on the beautiful playground. The park is quite large so you can really make a day of it if your looking to get outside!
We really had the best time on our weekend road trip up to Portsmouth, NH. If your located in New England in the fall, it really is the perfect time for a quick getaway to enjoy the leaves and a little costal charm! Our stay at the AC Hotel truly surpassed our expectations and it’s the perfect place to stay with (or without) kids. We will definitely be looking to head back in the summer so we can explore a little more of the coast and enjoy the water as well! Thanks as always for reading!
