EmFace Before and After's at Ignite Med Spa and Wellness
The closer I get to 40 the more I start to notice my skins elasticity decreasing. I was thrilled when Ignite Med Spa and Wellness invited me to try out their EmFace treatment to share with you guys. I received a number of questions from you as I shared my experience on social media so I will answer as many of those questions here as I can, along with showing you before and after photos from my treatment.
Before answering your questions, I wanted to share a bit about Ignite Med Spa and Wellness. They are located in West Hartford, and they offer a variety of medical spa services along with alternative therapies. They have everything from Botox, IPL’s and EmSculpt Neo to massage, facials and halotherapy. The spa itself if beautiful and conveniently located downtown. I have to say, while I love my EmFace results, my favorite part of this collaboration was getting to know the staff and the owner of Ignite. I can’t speak highly enough about them. They are excellent at what they do, incredibly kind and truly put you at ease. I always looked forward to getting to chat with the owner Jessica during my EmFace sessions and if you go in for any services, I promise you will love her! Now to anser some of your questions…
What is EmFace and how does it work?
EmFace is a non-invasive facial rejuvenation treatment that helps to combat the signs of facial aging by increasing facial tone and lift while decreasing wrinkles. It works by using synchronized radiofrequency technology and HIFES (high-intensity facial electromagnetic stimulation technology) to stimulate muscle contractions. It helps to both increase collagen and elastin while strengthening the elevator muscles that lift your face. This leads to a visible lift in areas like your brow, cheek and jawline. It also helps to firm the skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Does it hurt?
Not at all. I was very nervous during my first treatment as I am not someone who is good with pain. I watched a YouTube video on EmFace before my first treatment and I remember thinking that the muscle contractions looked painful to me. I was so worried it would hurt. I can assure you, it was truly pain free. It does feel quite strange to have your muscles contracting involuntarily, but the contractions themselves were not painful. I was also in control of the intensity the entire time. I could tell Jess to increase the intensity or decrease it based on my comfort level.
How long does it take, and how many treatments are needed?
For the initial EmFace treatment, 4 sessions are required and each session takes 20 minutes.
What kind of results should I expect, and did you notice a difference?
Studies have shown an average 37% reduction in wrinkles, 30% increase in facial muscle tone, and 23% lifting effect. The full effects actually take 3 months to see as your face continues to create increased collagen and elastin, peaking at the 3 month mark.
I plan to update this post with 3 month photos as my current before and after’s show right after my final treatment. I already notice a difference but make sure to check back in to see the full effect in a few months. My skin feels a bit tighter but where I noticed the biggest difference is in the definition around my cheekbone and jawline. When you look at the side photo of my before and after it’s very apparent that my face is lifted and more defined than it was previously.
How long does it last?
I was told the results last for about a year. After the year mark you should get a maintenance treatment done about once every 6 months. There is no need to do the full 4 treatments again. I was very impressed with my results at the 3 month mark after treatment. I opted to get a follow up treatment at 3 months to maintain results but I would say it was not necessary as my results at 3 months looked just as good if not better than right after my 4 treatments.
