Hi. I'm Kelly.

Welcome to my blog. Hope you have a nice stay!

Easy OREO Cake + OREO cookies' 110th Birthday!

Easy OREO Cake + OREO cookies' 110th Birthday!

When I found out my favorite cookie was turning 110 this year, I knew I wanted to partner with OREO to share a fun and easy recipe with you guys. I love any reason to celebrate and OREO cookies’ 110th birthday seemed like a more than perfect occasion to throw a party. The truth is that I love finding ways to weave unexpected moments of joy into my kids' lives. I hope they look back on their childhood and remember me as the kind of mom who would surprise them with a birthday party for OREO just to squeeze a little extra fun into our month.

This little birthday party was pretty easy to throw. I grabbed a few decorations and some oversized number balloons at our local party store and put them up while the kids were at school. I grabbed a few ingredients to make a super easy OREO cake. If you're lucky, you can actually find the Limited Edition 110th birthday OREO cookies at Publix. The packaging is super cute! Someone had just grabbed the last Limited Edition package when we got to the cookie aisle, so we grabbed a Family Size variety instead. The good news was that the cake tasted just as delicious without the fun Limited Edition packaging so the party was still on!

I don’t know about you, but sometimes we go all out with homemade baking recipes and do everything from scratch. Other times we take the fast and easy approach. Since I wanted to get everything set before the kids came home, I decided to take the easy route and use a boxed cake mix for this recipe. It turned out amazing and the whole cake tasted just like an OREO. Here is what you need:

Boxed vanilla cake mix

Oil

Eggs

Water

2 packages of OREO Icing

We added our boxed cake mix to a mixing bowl and followed the directions on the box to make the cake. It called for 1 cup water, 2 eggs and ½ cup of oil. Then I crushed up a sleeve and a half of OREO cookies from the family sized package. The amount of cookies you use is flexible but I really wanted the cake to taste like OREO so I used a good amount and then blended it into the mixture with a stand mixer. You can also mix the batter first and then fold in broken OREO pieces if you prefer larger cookie pieces in your cake. I find that the cake tastes more like regular vanilla cake with bites of OREO cookies that way as opposed to the whole cake tasting like one big OREO cookie. It’s just a matter of preference and you can’t go wrong either way.

I placed the batter in two round cake pans and baked the cakes at 350 degrees for 33 minutes. After cooling, I stacked them on top of each other and added vanilla icing. Decorating could not have been more simple, but I loved how it turned out! I just pressed OREO cookies in layers into the icing and added a little blue dollops of icing at the top for a pop of color. I topped it with 110 candles and we were good to go! While I decided to make the simple version of this OREO cake, if you are looking for a totally “from scratch” recipe, there are plenty of options online! We have made them in the past and they turn out really delicious, but it is a bit more time intensive. It’s definitely worth checking out if you have the time though!

If you throw your kids an OREO 110th Birthday party, let me know! I would love to hear how it went! Don’t forget to head to Publix and see if you can snag one of the Limited Edition packages for a little extra fun! You can really use any variety of OREO for this recipe though. I plan to try the cake with the chocolate frosted OREO cookies next! Visit https://www.110birthday.oreo.com/ to learn more about the celebration!

Kelly
