Dairy Free Garlic Chive Dip
This post is sponsored by the "Plant-Based" promotion at Publix. The opinions and text are all mine.
My whole life, I always found myself gravitating towards plant-based meal options. As I got older and became more interested in nutrition, I began to learn more about the benefits of plant-based eating for my health as well as for our planet. Once I had my kids I knew that I wanted to help them to think about the benefits of plant-based eating as well. My hope is that they will make healthier choices later in life if I am committed to modeling healthy options when they are young. The challenge for me, as for many parents, has been that I have incredibly picky eaters in my home (my husband included!). Our weeknights are always a bit busy, so the recipes I go to need to be simple and not very time intensive. I try to make at least one plant-based meal for my family each week, and over the past year, I have found a few easy tried and true favorite recipes.
Publix is having a great sale on some of our favorite plant-based favorites from 1/15- 1/28, so I thought it was the perfect time to share one of our favorite dips with you! It’s a great versatile, easy staple to keep on hand for your plant-based meals (and it’s a hit with even picky eaters!). My plant-based garlic and chive dip goes great with meatless nuggets, raw veggies, topped on crackers, stuffed in a baked potato, or our personal favorite, as a dip for falafel!
The recipe is super simple. You just combine an 8 oz package of Kite Hill Cream Cheese with a few cloves of garlic, some chives, and a bit of oat milk and blend on high with a hand blender until smooth. It doesn’t take more than 5 minutes to make, so it’s ideal for busy evenings! I love to serve it with Afia Falafel, and I threw a few Mariani Marcona Almonds on the side for some healthy fats and added protein. Our family also recently discovered Health-Ade pop, which we also found on sale at Publix (2 for $4) with gut-healthy prebiotics. My kids just think they are drinking soda, but they are getting living prebiotics, antioxidants, and detoxifying acids that keep their tummies happy and reduce inflammation.
One of my favorite parts of this meal is that the clean-up is super-fast! It only takes a few minutes to wash the mixing bowl and beaters, and aside from a cookie sheet, there aren’t many other dishes to clean up. We love using Seventh Generation dish soap, and I was really happy to find it was part of the sale (2 for $5!).
I hope your family loves this dip as much as we do! It’s a great way to get kids to start branching out into healthier options. Another fun tip I have found for kids who are hesitant to try new things is to get them helping in the kitchen. The first time I made this dip, I had my 3 and 6 yr old help make it. My girls love using the hand mixer and adding in the ingredients. They are always more willing to try new foods if they help prepare them!
Everything we used for this meal was in the 1/15 Extra Savings Flyer from Publix. There are a ton of other great plant-based deals available, so make sure you pick up the flyer in-store or access it online. (Quick tip: If you can’t find the flyer at the kiosk at the store’s entrance, you can always ask customer service, and they should be able to get you a flyer.) You can also find shelf signs throughout the store highlighting the savings during their plant-based promotion. It’s a great time to stock up on some of your favorites!
Thanks, as always for taking the time to read! Happy eating!
