Ayla's Tropical Birthday
I am finally getting around to posting about Aylas 2nd Birthday. Last year we went all out and it was incredibly fun and equally as exhausting. I told myself I would not be doing that again anytime soon so we decided to keep it simple this year. Im not sure if having 7 children under 3 in your house is ever really simple, but it was definitely a lot of fun! I found the most ADORABLE decorations that were all hand made by katrinamakes. I could not get over the little tiny palm leaf straws and paper flowers! Katrina makes is one of those gems of an Etsy shop you find that changes your party plannign world. Ayla loved the tropical theme and insisted on wearing her "Angelina tutu" (Like Angelina Ballerina of course) for the party. It was almost immediately covered in pink frosting and pink lemonade but what would a 2 yr old party be if you didnt end up covered in your cake? I quickly realized that as beautiful as the set up looked having pink frosted cupcakes within reach of 2 yr olds was maybe not the best plan. We ended up doing a little rearanging over the course of the afternoon and put a few treats up high out of reach. I was also super thankful for the cute pinappple cupcake toppers that salvaged my tragically poor frosting abilities. Lets just say I wont be winnign any cupcake decorating competitions anytime soon. Sorry Pintrest. I tried.
After all the sugar was consumed the kids decided it was definitely time for Ayla to open her gifts. It quickly became a group effort to unwrap and play with all of the new toys. Keeping 7 kids in one tiny area has never been easier. If your ever looking for an easy way to herd toddlers just give them a beautifully wrapped gift to open. They will flock like seagulls. I promise. Ayla was incredibly spoiled, full of sugar and felt very loved by all of her friends. She still talks about the day all her friends came over and she got to eat pink cupcakes and cookies. I would say birthday number two was a great success. Thanks again to Katrina Makes for sponsoring this post and making her special day so beautiful!
