Switching to Holistic Skincare with Tammy Fender

Switching to Holistic Skincare with Tammy Fender

Justin and I have recently been Netflixing it with some great health documentaries (fork over knife anyone?) and trying to clean up our eating a bit. If you know my husband, you know he is completely pizza crazed so It’s been a bit of a challenge to say the least! We are taking baby steps and I am proud of our progress. I often find that small changes in one area of life start a domino effect and lead to changes in other areas as well. Eating healthier has made me really start to think about the products I am using and I decided to commit to clean up my beauty routine a bit too. I wanted to share an honest review with you about what products I was using before and what my transition to Tammy Fender’s Holistic skin care line has been like.

Tammy Fender has a 100% botanical based skincare line and I was beyond thrilled to get the opportunity to work with them. They helped me choose replacement items from their collection for the products I was previously using. For the last 6 months I had been using Rodan and Fields redefine regimen which consists of a face wash, toner, AM and PM lotion and eye cream. In addition to these products I have been using Sunday Riley’s C.E.O rapid flash brightening serum and 2-3 times a week I use Tatcha’s polished classic rice enzyme powder as an exfoliator. I have loved all of these products and have seen great results using them so I was a bit nervous to switch to a Holistic brand. I was really worried that I would have to trade results for a healthier lifestyle. I am excited to share with you guys that this concern could not be further from the truth. Over the last month of using these products I have absolutely fallen in love and there is no going back!

I now start my routine with Tammy Fenders purifying cleansing Gel. Cleansers always make my skin feel so stripped and dry. This cleanser is completely different. It is quite honestly the best cleanser I have ever tried and I have used a lot of products over the years. I do have to wash my face twice with this product when I have makeup on but I don’t mind that at all. I wish I could insert a smell into this blog post because the spearmint scent is so incredibly soothing and energizing. I feel like I am being transported to a spa every time I use it.

After cleansing my face I use the Epi-Peel 2-3x a week to exfoliate. You apply it using a circular motion and it gently exfoliates but you leave it on for 5 minutes and it actually detoxifies your skin. It is by far the best facial I have ever tried. It leaves my skin incredibly soft and absolutely glowing after I remove it with a warm washcloth.

My next step is to use the essential C tonic. I had to start using my Rodan and Fields toner just 2-3 times a week because, again, I was having issues with my skin feeling pretty dry. This tonic feels like it actually adds moisture but removes oil and tones my skin amazingly. My face looks bright and feels so refreshed after using this product and again, it smells incredible. It helps me to take a breather and reset when I am feeling a bit stressed. The smell is so therapeutic.

I follow the toner with their Quintessential Serum which in my mind is some kind of miracle product. It is so deeply moisturizing and leaves my skin absolutely radiant. The only thing I didn’t love about this serum initially is that it’s a little thick going on but once you apply the face cream over it, it seems to absorb just fine and I was able to apply my normal makeup with no problems. I actually love the thickness now because I feel like there is a real barrier between my skin and harmful things like pollution in the air. Once it absorbs it’s not even noticeable but my skin really feels protected. The face cream I put over the serum is their intensive repair balm which I chose because I have a bit of rosatia on my cheeks. My skin is far less red and looks smooth and even after using this. It also has great anti-aging benefits.

The final step in my new routine is the Awakening Eye Gel. If you have read any of my past beauty routines you know that I have incredibly stubborn bags and dark circles under my eyes. I have spoken with dermatologists who always say its genetic and nothing aside from surgery can be done. I have had so little luck with eye creams so I couldn’t imagine a natural cream working at all. I was floored by the results! So to be totally honest, this product didn’t help quite as much as the Rodan and Fields with the puffiness but it worked WAY better with the dark circles which really makes such a difference. I decided to keep using the cream I have at night and I am using this one during the day because the combined effect is just what I need and it’s still majorly reducing my exposure to chemicals in non-natural products.

After using these products for about a month my skin just looks younger. There is no other way to describe it. My skin tone is more even and I don’t have dull tired “mom skin” anymore. I say “mom skin” because after having Ayla my skin took a major hit from the hormones, lack of sleep and just general fatigue of keeping up with a baby/toddler. I honestly cannot recommend these products to you enough. I have commitment phobia with beauty products, mostly because I love to try new fun things, but Tammy Fender’s products have found a permanent home in my skincare routine.

Before I sign off, I know that using holistic products can be major stretch when it comes to fitting in a budget. I took a few minutes to crunch some numbers and here is what I found. If you can afford Rodan and Fields then you can afford Tammy Fender. I did some quick calculations and found that most of Tammy Fender’s products are actually less expensive per oz. For example, Rodan and Fields day cream is $84 per oz while Tammy Fender’s antioxidant cream is only $56 or the cream I am using (intensive repair balm) is $76 per oz. Rodan and fields toner is $11.42 per oz and Tammy Fenders essential C tonic is only $9.16 per oz. Basically, if you switch from Rodan and Fields you are saving money, getting (in my option) overall better results, and using products that are not harmful to your body. I can pretty much promise you, if you try these products, you will also fall in love as much as I have!

XO,

Kelly
