How to Fight Colds and Flu's This Holiday Season!

How to Fight Colds and Flu's This Holiday Season!

Vicks at Walmart

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Vicks. The opinions and text are all mine.

Everyone knows that the holiday's are crazy! It's probably the worst time of the year to come down with a cold or the flu! With all the holiday parties and time with family there is just no time to be stuck in bed sick! For our family, with a toddler in preschool who is always bringing germs into the house, we have learned to be as prepared as possible for sickness. I wanted to share a few of our tips and tricks this holiday season to stay on top of your cold and flu symptoms so you can keep decking the halls all season long!

First, the best way to stay on top of a cold it to just not get one at all! Two preventative measures I swear by are using elderberry and colloidal silver. I have elderberry gummies and kids colloidal silver that I give to my daughter every day before school. I also have elderberry capsules and a stronger adult version of the silver that I always take at the first sign of a cold. It more often than not, knocks out the cold before I really get sick! We have also had a lot less colds around our house since taking probiotics daily. I truly believe you will dramatically reduce the amount of colds you bring into your home if you integrate these natural immune boosting products into your daily life.

Even with these measures being taken, colds are still bound to happen so being prepared is key! One of my biggest tips is to have everything you need on hand before sickness strikes because getting to the store when you feel terrible is not going to have you Fa-La-Laing this season! When it comes to fighting colds I always go to a "one and done" multi-symptom relief medicine (because no one needs a million different boxes cluttering up their medicine cabinet!) Vicks DayQuil has been such a miracle worker for managing my day-time flu and cold symptoms. It keeps me on my feet while I'm sick and I hardly miss a beat, which is much needed over the holidays! My night time go to for the past few years has been NyQuil. I always have a bottle on hand because trying to sleep with the flu is no walk in the park. I swear, I sleep like a baby even with the worst cold when I take Vicks NyQuil! They also have a new VapoCOOL formula that has soothing vapors for added comfort. I can't wait to try it the next time I am sick!

The only thing worse than having a cold yourself is watching your kids struggle with one. It's so sad when Ayla gets sick because she is still too young for cold medicine and all she can really take is some acetaminophen. One product we started using last year for her was Vicks Vaporub and it's helped her so much when she has chest congestion. We always rub it on before bed when she is feeling sick and she sleeps so much better! Now that we have a new baby around the house we also plan to use the Vicks baby rub and their VapoPads in the vaporizer.

You can easily find all of these great Vicks products at your local Walmart. If you don't have these cold essentials on hand ahead of time, another tip is to use Walmart's online grocery pick up! You can order exactly what you need online and it will all be ready and waiting for you once you get to the store. As a bonus, they won't even mind if you wear your sick day Pj's in to pick them up!

I still prefer to stock up ahead of time and if you feel the same way you can easily shop all the Vick's cold and flu essentials right here:https://tap.fit/HkztZk9CQ

I also found some great coupons for you guys to use for additional savings at Walmart.

  • If you coupon from BrandSAVER (the 11/25 newspaper) you can find a $1 off any Vicks product at Walmart (except drops, Sines, and ZzQuil)

If you have the iBotta App you can find these offers below:

  • $1 off Vicks Nyquil at Walmart
  • $0.75 off Vicks VapoDrops at Walmart
  • Bonus $1.25 rebate when you use both iBotta offers

While being prepared is essential, I hope you all have a sickness free holiday season and enjoy the time with friends and family!

Kelly
